tim®CHEM double diaphragm pumps are conquering chemical applications

  • Reliable pumps with optimized geometry for lower compressed air demand and high efficiency
  • Short-stroke design with durable composite diaphragm ensures even, low-pulsation media flow with long lifetime
  • Dead center free, low-wear ceramic spool valve with high switchover security even at low start-up pressure

The pumps made by Timmer GmbH are already established in many demanding applications. With the newly introduced tim®CHEM series Timmer is now expanding the application range to critical chemicals. Following consultation with many operators, a great deal of experience and constructive knowhow, the family-owned company is opening up this new market for itself. The pneumatic double diaphragm pumps offer many advantages in terms of efficiency, application possibilities and availability.

When developing the tim®CHEM series, the aim was to create highquality pumps suitable even for very demanding applications. “We succeeded in doing so. We also cover highly critical and sensitive applications in a secure and reliable way”, says Udo Hüttemann from Timmer’s market development department. “When it comes to details, the pumps are always a little better than many competitors. This is what distinguishes Timmer and this is something the first operators already appreciate.
Because in the overall assessment of all aspects, it is worth the effort.” Since June 2020, the portfolio launched at the beginning of the year has been complete for the time being with the addition of further sizes. Now Timmer offers the pumps in ½-, 1- and 2-inch versions made of PTFE or PE as well as a 2-inch version made of cast stainless steel (V4A). The conveying capacities range from 60 up to 600 l/min.

Reducing energy costs and increasing lifetime
The extremely smooth-running ceramic valve is the heart of the pumps and has already proven itself in many other applications. It is not only virtually wear-free, but also enables a safe start-up with low starting pressure as low as 0.7 bar over the entire lifetime. This also opens up very good application possibilities in the field of dosing.
“For the plastic housings, especially for the PTFE versions, we have opted for a new material-appropriate design that permanently ensures a great deal of stability for the housing components – right down to the suction and discharge connections,” says Hüttemann. At the same time – and this is very important for the operator – the stability does not come at the expense of easy and quick disassembly, thanks to the innovative tim® FIX connecting elements. Even essential parts such as the media valves are accessible without special tools. However, maintenance is rarely necessary. This is because the short-stroke diaphragm has a much longer lifetime than the diaphragms used in many conventional chemical pumps that operate with a longer stroke. In general, Timmer sees an advantage in opting for short-stroke diaphragms – besides the considerably longer lifetime – also due to the even, low-pulsation media flow. Since all models of the tim®CHEM series require only four O-ring seals with the same dimensions on the outside, both maintenance and expenditure are considerably reduced while leakage safety is increased.

Optionally, operators can monitor various parameters such as number of strokes and stroke frequency, operating time, diaphragm condition, etc. For the chemical industry all pumps are certified according to the ATEX directive.
