Vacuum lifting technology: vacuum hose lifters and their advantages

In many industries, lifting and carrying heavy loads is part of everyday life for workers. The consequences: Back pain and the associated loss of motivation and sick leave. To avoid these serious consequences, companies can take preventive action. Vacuum hose lifters are an effective relief for workers. But what is hidden behind the term? How do the lifting aids work and where are they used?

How does vacuum lifting technology work?

Whether cardboard boxes, bagged goods, barrels or pallets: vacuum lifting technology enables fast and precise lifting and lowering of various loads. And all at the touch of a button without any strain on the employee. To lift the load, a vacuum pump generates a vacuum by continuously extracting the air. The difference to the ambient pressure ensures that the workpiece and the suction pad are pressed against each other. The resulting volume flow contracts the lifting hose. The load is lifted.

If the load is to be lowered again, the system is ventilated: air is supplied again. This partially reduces the vacuum that was previously created. The lifting hose expands again and the load is lowered. The lifting height can be controlled in detail via the dosage of the ventilation. If the load is to be released, the vacuum is completely reduced by maximum ventilation.

Vacuum lifting technology in application

Shorter cycle times, fast maintenance and relief for employees: vacuum lifting technology brings many advantages for companies. The first step is to choose the right system. Timmer offers various vacuum hose lifters that are designed for different circumstances. For example, the load capacity varies from 50 kg (lightLIFT) to 300 kg (heavyLIFT). All systems can be conveniently operated by hand. In some cases, two-handed controls are integrated so that right-handed and left-handed people can operate the systems without any problems. On request, we can adapt our systems to your individual needs. We will be happy to advise you!

If selected correctly, vacuum hose lifters have become indispensable in many areas of industry. Here are some advantages of the systems:

1. amortised quickly
The use of hose lifters does not require a lot of personnel. As a result, companies reduce personnel costs and the equipment pays for itself in a very short time.

2. time saving
Vacuum lifting technology optimises work processes. This reduces cycle times. The result is a significant time saving.

3. low maintenance
We use only high-quality materials that promote a long service life of the equipment. Our vacuum hose lifters require little maintenance and are designed to be robust and durable.

4. less sickness-related downtime
Vacuum hose lifters relieve the strain on personnel and reduce sickness-related downtime.

Reduced staff absenteeism in particular is becoming increasingly important for companies. This is because a positive working atmosphere and a high level of employee satisfaction are important factors for the success of a company, at the latest in times of a shortage of skilled workers. Labour law is also dealing with this issue.

What must employers observe?

In order to protect workers who often have to carry and lift heavy loads in their daily work, some rules are laid down in the Load Handling Ordinance. This concerns all employees and employers who have to manually lift, carry, move, pull or set down heavy loads at the workplace. The regulation states exactly how much load staff are allowed to carry. For women, the weight is limited to 10 kg regardless of age. Men aged 19-45 are allowed to carry 30 kg. From the age of 45, the weight is reduced to 25 kg.

The regulation has important consequences for companies to protect their staff. For example, they must assess hazards, take physical capacity into account and instruct employees.

One thing is clear, however: vacuum lifting technology can significantly reduce the workload of staff. After all, employees must not be subjected to regular loads above a weight of 30 kg at the latest. A limit that is quickly reached in industry.
