FAQ: vacuum hose lifter

The most important questions and answers about vacuum hose lifters at a glance

A vacuum hose lifter is a lifting aid that uses a vacuum to pick up, lift and move loads. The goods to be lifted - such as boxes, sacks or plates - are sucked in via a suction foot and lifted by the lifting hose. The load is held by a suction cup and the hose simultaneously serves as a lifting device and vacuum carrier. It is usually controlled with just one hand.

Hose lifters reduce physical strain, increase work safety and enable faster handling. They can be flexibly adapted to different lifting goods and can be operated by just one person.

  • Force-free, back-friendly lifting
  • One-man operation (less personnel)
  • Faster work / less fatigue
  • Less sick leave thanks to ergonomics
  • Safe load handling, even with bulky materials

A vacuum hose lifter uses negative pressure to lift loads. A vacuum generator, such as a pump or an ejector, sucks air out of a hose, creating a vacuum. The difference in pressure between the inside of the hose and the environment lifts the load.

The system is fast, safe and can be operated by just one person. The strain on the body is significantly reduced - even with heavy or unwieldy loads.

More detailed explanation:

1. Vacuum generation:
A vacuum generator (pump, blower or ejector) creates a vacuum by sucking air out of the hose.

2. Suction:
The vacuum ensures that the load is pulled onto the suction cup and held securely in place.

3. Lifting:
The vacuum created causes the lifting hose to contract - the workpiece is also lifted. The heavier the load, the shorter the hose becomes.

4. Lowering / steering:
The height of the hose automatically adjusts to the weight. The operator does not have to exert any manual force - lifting and lowering is carried out solely by regulating the vacuum via the operating handle. The entire process is controlled with a handy operating handle: Lifting, lowering and releasing are carried out intuitively using a single control element.

The system is suitable for different types of loads, from cartons and bags to large plates.

They are used in many industries, e.g. in warehouse logistics, packaging, production, shipping or in wood and metal processing. Wherever repeated lifting operations with loads of different weights or awkward dimensions take place. Wherever loads such as boxes, sacks or plates need to be moved quickly and safely.

Timmer products meet high safety standards and are equipped with protective functions. These include safety valves, emergency stop functions and regular maintenance. Compliance with the relevant standards is a prerequisite for use in industrial environments. Operation is intuitive and instruction is provided by our specialist staff.

The costs depend on the area of application, load capacity, accessories and customisations. Simple systems start at a few thousand euros, while complex solutions can cost more. Personalised advice is advisable in order to find the right solution.

In the event of a sudden drop in pressure, a safety valve ensures that the load is lowered slowly and does not drop uncontrollably.

Depending on the version, loads of up to 300 kg can be lifted. The maximum load capacity depends on the configuration, the suction foot and the nature of the load to be lifted. For most applications with boxes, bags or plates, our models with a load capacity of 65 kg are sufficient.

A vacuum hose lifter is a technical lifting aid that combines vacuum technology with ergonomic handling. It belongs to the category of semi-automated load handling devices and supports physically relieved work. The hose lifter enables gripping and lifting in one step, controlled via a central operating handle. Overall, the vacuum hose lifter not only helps to increase efficiency, but also to promote the health and motivation of employees.

Yes, the load is sucked in evenly and over a wide area. There are no sharp edges or grippers that could damage the material. This allows the usage even on sensitive surfaces.

The amortisation period depends on the area of application and the frequency of use. In many cases, the investment pays for itself after just a few months due to reduced sickness absence, faster processes and less staff deployment.
